  • Re:Oranges and apples share things. What exactly is shared and what not?Much force behind the argument for women in ministry comes from the fact that in the past this shared zone was more narrowly defined. Should women be treated as intellectual equals? Are women capable of strong leadership?of being responsible?of being spiritually mature? If one considers such a person as capable of existing, one would be asking them to check their intelligence, their leadership, themselves at the church door.

  • I'm not trying to be antagonistic here; just ask the question, do you think such women exist? Is that who women are or are capable of being?

  • @ErneuerterMensch Do you believe Scripture is the source of our ontology? Scripture teaches that woman exists so that man will not be alone, so that he will have a helper, and so that together they can be fruitful and grow in family. These are all wonderful things.

  • @ErneuerterMensch um....not necessarily. that's pretty much a straw man. meanwhile, it is precisely because oranges and apples have so many things in common that the metaphor is wonderfully apt. its a question of where are the capabilities, leadership skills, intelligence and spirituality designed by God to be used, and that's not a matter of what I think, but of what the Scriptures say. God bless.

  • @ErneuerterMensch We should emphasize what the Words of God's Scripture actually say about the way God designed us to live in peace and harmony. Our sin does not negate God's righteousness, in either his Law or his Gospel. pax.

  • @ErneuerterMensch Not really a logical move there at the end. That's like saying that if a male super genius president of a country joined a congregation and didn't participate in leadership or become the pastor, then he would be "checking his intelligence, gifts and self at the door."

  • @Revfiskj there are opposing views on ordination that also claim to be Scripture-honoring;that come from orthodox christian denominations. Gonna email it because Youtube doesn't seem to like links on the comment board..Per the submission language in the Bible women in actual congregations often self-limit in ways that are unhealthy, unbiblical! Thats not a reason for ordination;it is a reason to reemphasize the worth of womens spiritual gifting including leadership. All the best!

  • @LutheranChic615 There are finishing a 3rd edition which includes more essays on the subject. Will be available soon.

  • @sindie11 Nowhere does Paul say, "Please accept Pheobe as a pastor/shepherd." You say, "undoubtedly", there are a lot of doubts/contradictions to what you are implying Sindie.
