  • I'm going to be attending the olympics closing ceremony, i am going to buy a d3100 most likely but want a lens to go with it that will easily capture people people about 100m away, what lens would you suggest of a price range up to £150? Thanks:)

  • @TLOLJambo I'd get the Nikkor DX 55-200mm VR or 55-300mm VR - make sure you get the VR models.

  • Great video. I want to buy a Nikon Camera for Dental Aplications!! Which one do you recomend? D40, D80, D90, or D5000 and also please which macro lens, 105, 200 or 300. I want the best results, but i don't know which one buy! Thank's Gordon. You are a great teacher in this.

  • @rupertoruiz The choice of focal length depends on how close you'd like the lens to be to the subject. Please feel free to discuss this in the Nikon section of the cameralabs forums.

  • Gordon, you could go into acting with that face, voice and accent. And I mean that in the most positive way possible.

  • @cosmingurau Thanks! I think I'll stick to the day job for now though!

  • Your video is a favorite on Israel

  • I got this lens yesterday, and put in on my camera (D5000) and I noticed that when I hold the shutter bottom down it makes a humming noise followed by a click, is this normal?

  • all camera reviews pale in comparison to cameralabs.

  • I have one, on a D7000 and a D700. A bit dark, but great when you have plenty of light. Fast and sharp until 200mm, when both drop dramatically. Does not replace a "real" 300mm lens, but hey: it costs a lot less than one! If you ask me, I'll say it's a great bang for the buck.

  • @llBartll I've had both and I've owned the D3100. The 55-200 is much lighter than the 70-300, in fact it's not much different to the kit lense (18-55 VC). I would use the 55-200 on a D3100 as I think the 70-300 will be unbalanced on the D3100 (try it out and you'll see what I mean) . I would recommend that you upgrade your kit lens on the D3100 and the Tamron 17-50VC is a cheap but good bet - focus can be hit and miss but it's really sharp and will blow your kit lens out of the water.
