New gear Guys!

This time it's the BCB Crusader Cooker, Cup Canteen and NATO Waterbottle & Mug - an incredible British Bushcraft import!

I got mine here in the States from Best Glide Aviation Survival Equipment - http://www.bestglide.com

Saw this for the first time on YouTube at wall2rockclimber's (Stoneage Bushman) channel.

It's an all-in-one pot, mug, water bottle and stove, that can burn solid, gel and alcohol fuels.

To carry a combo piece of gear with multi-fuel capabilities sold me immediately.

And of course no piece of gear is complete without some DIY modification - in this video you'll see I added a wick to the cooker.

Others burn alcohol in their Crusader Cookers (similar to the tea-light method) but I found (from Hiram Cook's YouTube channel) that using a vertical wick creates more burning surfaces (than the alcohol flame just floating on top of the pool).

The wick material I used is a fiberglass woodstove gasket. As long as there is fuel to burn the fiberglass wick material remains.

This BCB Crusader Cooker, Cup Canteen and NATO Waterbottle & Mug is a winning combination! My water carry and cook kit search is over.

  • Why don't you speak? :)

  • @66Bloodline66 Haha! Others asked too, so I started to on later videos. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Does"Heet" leave any residue, stain on the cup??great idea!! i will have to try out the ring:)

  • @KamelotAmbient Thanks for watching, and your comment. There is no stain or residue at all from using Heet. And in daylight, you can't even see it burning. It's great stuff. Again, thanks!

  • What's the knotted ring you've put in he middle?

  • @brett00001111 It is a fiberglass wick and is made from a wood stove gasket "rope" avaiable at most hardware stores. Thanks for watching!

  • @makkdot1 Thanks for your kind comments. I have a list of show and tell items for a stove video that I promised to another friend, I'll this one to it as well for you...

  • Hello. I love the no B.S. presentation, very clear and very well done in my opion. Would it be possible for you to give us a DIY tutorial on making the wick for the Crusader cup cooker. That would be FANTASTIC!!! Thank You

  • @Woodenarrows Thanks Jim. I have since added carbon felt to the tray. And even more recent, I'm expecting a gift from Alan (YT channel PHARRAOH) on a bracket that he designed and makes which allows use of a Trangia stove for this kit. I used about 1.5 oz on this. The wicks really can soak up the fuel. This is a heavy stainless steel kit, but tough as nails, weighing in at 1 lbs 13 oz. including the empty water bottle and cup. I'll be doing a video response to Alan soon.

  • Nice little kit. Adding the wick ring was a great idea. Do you know how much fuel you used for that burn? Any idea what the total weight of the kit is?
