James Brown was too black for white people.Jimi Hendrix was too white for black folk.Sly was the first to bridge the gap and create crossover and funk at the same time.

He has no peer.

This man is truly a genius, I had no idea until recently he produced songs for a number of rock groups at the time. I hope he has kicked his drug habit for good, then maybe he will go back into the studio to grace us with more of his genius.

I was diggin James Brown from the time I was six years old on. When I grew up in the 60s and 70s unless you listened to stations like say the ones i listened to (WJPC and WVON) in Chicago you never got to hear James Brown. If white people were not exposed to JB than they wouldnt dig him. So that being said its not a question of ones skin color its whether a person has been exposed to an artist or certain style of music.
