The best "screw you, Russia" parades were in the former USSR itself, in 1991, remember? I love the photo of the toppled Lenin statue. What a beautiful way to tell the Communist Party to shove it -- and by the very people who were supposed to be loved, cared for, and nurtured by their communist government.

Its actually the remembrance of the people that fought for the 8 hr work day. Pretty much the roots of the union movement.

Based on a Chicago protest in may, where several were killed during the protest, and then eight were convicted of instigating the movement. Four of which were hung, the other four imprisoned. All for our current 8 hr days.

Its was never one side or the other, but the 50's did a good job of blurring May day with communist scare tactics, just like Hollywood black list.
