15º GP da temporada 1981, disputado em 17/10/1981 no circuito de rua de Las Vegas e vencido pelo australiano Alan Jones, da Williams. Nelson Piquet chegou em 5º e conquistou seu primeiro título mundial de piltos.
So bizarre, seeing a GP in a hotel car park - although it's very much Vegas. If ever there was a city perfectly set up for hosting an event like a GP, it'd be there. But how do you cope with the heat? And more would have to be done about the circuit - it's not that they didn't do a lot of work in '81, it's just it doesn't seem to have much character, besides the heat.
Dear OmegaXV, Piquet the best pilot of that era? Well, I would have liked to see him in a Ferrari 126CK that year (1981). I really wonder if he would have won at Monaco and Jarama .........

Piquet was clearly the best pilot from this F1 Era
Williams had the best car since late 79, 80 e 81; Jones and Reutmann were good pilots, but Piquet was in a superior level (as history would prove); he deserved this title and if he had a more competitive car we would had be champion in 80 as well;
We hardly remember reutmann or Jones (i remember jones tring to make points in 86 with a Lola...)
Essa pista mais parecia de kart!

Such a strange place to have a GP - in a car park! Still, fantastic racing by Piquet to push through the heat exhaustion...
