In this video we spend a day with Help for Heroes at York Station. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' spends the day disguised as 70048 'The Territorial Army 1908-1958' joined in double headed formation with 8F 48151'Gauge O Guild'. We see the double header arrive and take a look at the Name plate of 70048. We then watch the two engines moving about York and the National Railway museum light engine with whistles. Later on we see some of the soldiers posing with the 'Help for Heroes' head board before watching the two engines depart York. After this we stay awhile to wait for A4 60019 Bittern to pass York via the junction light with double tenders and support coach, this video is very short but I thought I would add it anyway, Cheers!

  • very nice footage

  • Thanks.

  • Whats with Bittern Having 2 Tenders? a4 got a bad water storage ability?

  • No A4's are rather good on water, the story behind the second tender is that another tender became available from somewhere, not sure where and the Owner of Bittern decided to buy it. The reason for this is that the loco's on the ECML in the past had water troughs to refuel whilst on the move, once steam had gone these troughs were removed as the need for them was gone. Most tours will have to stop at least three times for water but Bittern with her two tenders has to stop half way only at York.

  • wow great video mate i like it + fav

  • Cheers, no problem glad you enjoyed the video!

  • Very beautiful shots. Thank you.

  • Thanks I'm glad you like, and yes it was nice to see so many people enjoying themselves for a great cause. Also thanks for the comment on Bittern.

  • Great vid and all for a good cause. A nice shot if Bittern at the end, it looks very reminiscent of the 1960's in that shot of her. Glad you hung around for her.
