Yes, I added global illumination and ambient occlusion as default settings. The 1 light is just a standard Omni with Shadow Map (soft).

very nice tutorial man , you said exactly everything and perfect english :) only 3 things you didn't show as : the doorknob ( but it's pretty easy to make one , I made one with a sphere and it looks pretty nice ) 2 the render settings did you just added global illumination and ambient occlusion and didn't change anything on them ? and 3 the lights :/ could you tell me what you did with the lights ? if you changed anything on them , thx anyway for the tutorial =)!
