Lev Yashin was the first great goalkeeper and was considered the best of his time, but other goalkeepers came around. I will use an analogy: The Stanley Cup, Lord Stanley is not the best hockey player, But Sidney Crosby and Mario Lemieux are the best. I don't know the whole story about that, I'm not sure if Lord Stanley played Hockey or what significance he had with the game.
