on Fri Aug 13 10 the New Underground Poets of San Francisco emerged to perform on the 3rd floor of the historic Mechanics Institute Library. Organized by Alan Kaufman, Andrew Paul Nelson, Charlie Getter, J Brandon Loberg and Evan Karp, the event also included a panel with Stephen Elliott, founder and editor of The Rumpus, Instant City founder and editor Gravity Goldberg, Getter and Loberg, who run the 16th St/Mission Review, and founder of Ink. Publishing, Mike Skott. There was also a small press book fair.
