We have Skinned, Fleshed, Haired, and Tanned the hide.. now it's time to make something useful from it! Tam takes us step by step in the making of a "Medicine Pouch" or "Possibles Bag"

  • Amen!!

Would you ever use Tallow to water proof?

  • @jacobjoes

Tallow would make an acceptable waterproof.. although it's not absolutely necessary

  • hey how do you waterproof the pouches

  • @huntingf0r

A good soaking of oil works wonders.. You can use wax as well.. neither will keep water out of the opening.. but it will stop penetration through the leather

  • Why so bitter Oliva? When did Tam say this was the way Natives made their pouches? And when did she claim to be Native? (Although we have MANY Native friends.. and have been honored greatly by them)

And of course we don't have gold in there.. Tam said it was her "Medicine Bag" and she uses it to collect and keep medicinal herbs.

Sorry if somehow in life you have been offended.. if there is something that we can do to help you please let us know

  • @olivasvince Actually, natives around michigan are very light skinned. I have several friends who look white, but are full native. So, in some cases, skin color doesnt determine whether a person is native or not. And for the record, i am Jicarilla Apache.

  • @unityspirit51 You don't count a human as a living animal?

  • @unityspirit51 You are funny, all modern plants used by humans require the work and death of animals. If you are really keen on human skn start by cutting off your scalp.

  • @BushcraftOnFire ik u guys dont like killing animals or whatever but if get some fat from the animal u can kinda get the greece of and rub it on the pouch or like boots and it waterproofs it :D hope it helped

  • @unityspirit51

I also don't kill or eat animals. But if I find a dead animal I sometimes use it's skin. Here is why.. I feel as though I can honor that animals life and give it extended purpose. Maybe I am wrong in that.. but it's how I see it at this point.

  • you could put your weed in there

  • awesome video... thank you and God bless..
