Earlier this year the Decemberists had a music video contest. This was my entry. I did not win, but here is my animation anyway! It was done using stop-motion of cutouts I drew in an Edward Goreyesque style.

I love the Decemberists, but nearly as much as I love your backgrounds. I feel ashamed that it took me this long to actually watch this video, but it's fine in that I feel more than good enough, because you did such an awesome job on it! I can't wait till you see Spencer Hensel's and my newset stop motion project, it'll be 2D and we've been working on it for almost 2 months. But needless to say, this is great, flows right, feels right, edited right, just plain down right... right

Well, in the director's cut, he calls her Francesca, but I don't much like that version anyway because I feel it doesn't really fit the story in the song. You made a nice vid though.

Her name isn't Valencia, that's the name of the street. It never really says her name in the song.
