What happens if you make a mistake with the pencil drawing - how do you erase it without rubbing off the paint underneath?

I don't know if you read these things Mr., I was just wondering if you let them dry inbetween, especially later on when you do the ripples in the water, do you let them dry before you go over them? Thanks, Kelli.
