The term, "Scaracters" comes from a blend of the word, "Scary", and the word, "Characters". So, we are proud to be coining this term! When I first started on Hollywood Blvd - as Dracula - basically, there were only superhero characters, a Charlie Chaplin, an Elvis, a Stormtrooper, Elmo, and a self-created demon character that wasn't from any particular movie (awesome as he was). After doing Dracula for a good while, I came to realize just how fragile and restrictive the Dracula costume was. So, I would now bring him out onluy every once in awhile. But I needed an new character in the meantime. Always having been a Freddy fan, and knowing that "Fredy vs. Jason" was due out in a few months, and the way the challenge of the makeup appealed to me, I decided to revert to Freddy. I was the very first modern horror character to appear on Hollywood Blvd.It was INSTANT success! MAJOR!! Not too long after, I brought a Hollywood Jason out. Then a guy who saw us out there felt inspired to come out and join us as Hollywood Michael Myers. He met a midget on a train and told him about us and talked him into doing Hollywood Chucky. A guy who was doing Robin of Batman kept watching us like he wanted to be a part of us. So he finally did, and Hollywood Pinhead was born. Then a Hollywood Leatherface turned up. Then A Hollywood Scream (aka Hollywood Ghostface"). Later, I recruited a girl and got / created her costume for her and she joined in as Hollywood Samara (inspired by "The Ring") Along the way, I found that Hollywood Freddy and Dracula were not enough for me. I had to keep things fresh and interesting for both myself and everyone. I had to explore being a more diverse performer. So I added Hollywood Beetlejuice as one of my characters. Now, in the professional group photo sessions, you will see BOTh a freddy AND a Beetlejuice in the photos together sat the same time. How can that be? Well, since I wanted both characters in the photos, and since I could not be 2 of my characters at the same time, my good friend, Jessy, who was visiting that week from Denver, agreed to fill in as Hollywood Beetlejuice for these photos. I made him up exactly the same way I do myself whenever I do Hollywood Beetlejuice. Thus, the explanation for that! In all the other photos, it is me as Hollywood Beetlejuice. Oh, by the way, the character missing in those professional group photos is Hollywood Chucky. Because the photographer was late and Hollywood Chucky would NOT be patient and wait a little. We are the only "type group" that actually often works together as a team in Hollywood. Other characters will work in PAIRS, but not as a whole big group like we do! The superhero characters and other "type groups" just can't seem to want to get along, and so they won't work with each other. It is ironic that only the scary characters can actually pull it off! That's because we WANT to do it, and we have FUN, and we think of how the FANS of horror film icons would LOVE to see us all together, and so we do it and do it very well! People flock to us in Hollywood from all over the world! They know that NOWHERE ELSE will you see ALL these "scaracters" together! Nowhere else can you get such a photo!
Credits: The reason I chose covers of the themes to "The Addams Family" and "The Munsters" TV shows is because we "Hollywood Scaracters" / Scream Team are VERY, VERY, VERY MUCH like an extended FAMILY. And we are pretty scary! AND we are a lot of fun! So, these themes were perfectly fitting to use as the music for this video clip!!
That Freddy is frickin' awesome.
