I remember an interview that Grace Jones gave about 20 yrs ago. I was on a vacation, in Paris for the first time and Grace was a guest on a local tv show there...she was asked which singers in the States, "impressed" her and I'll never forget her saying "Living?...Patti Labelle....Dead?...Billie Holliday". And she went on to say that everytime Patti sang, "the Earth trembled a little bit. She sounds "too good to be true". Watch closely because there will never be one like her again.

Keep in mind that Patti would have been 41 years old here in 1985! The diva's of today peak at 22, then drugs, then nervous breakdown, then a weak ass voice that isn't 60% of volume.... Ms. Labelle has been kicking ass for 40+ years, and today at age 64, she can still blow just about everyone off the stage. Todays Whitney & Mariah would get blown off the stage even by todays Patti....If either were to attempt a duet with the Patti of 1985, it would be career ending.

I love love love this performance!!!!!!! I remember watching this on TV with my friends and we all went crazy and bowed in front of the TV!!! After seeing this I would channel Patti at every pageant I did..... It won me many titles. Lover man was the living END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for posting!!!
