Kenwood Excelon KDC-X993 Overview

I appoligize for the awful glare, it is due to the glaze finish that is put over the screen of these unit, the display looks much brighter and crisper in person. I might remake the video at night and see if the image quality increases.
Just had this installed a little over a week ago and thought i would throw up a video since not to many are on here of this product. If you have any question concearning the unit feel free to send me a message and i will do my best to answer. I know i would have appreciated having more than just the shop owner explaining his opinion on the $300 product.
So far so good though, I am pleased with the purchase but wont really know if it paid off until i have the boston spg555 and pdx amps installed latter this year.

Handsfree Bluetoothe calling. (The Mic is installed near the spedometer)
USB Direct Control (Allows you two use your Ipod/MP3 to change song selection instead of the two control nobs)

how do you like the x993 ? how is the pre amp out puts ? is it a seemingly good head unit ? i recently had a x990 excelon which i must say was an awesome head unit, well that was until the faceplate back lighting quite. i ask cause i am thinking on purchasing one myself . is it worth the buy ?

@Heberaro Well now that I have had the unit for nearly 2 years I can give you the pros and cons. First off the outputs plenty powerful I think 4.0 volts. The sound quality can be dialed in to near perfecting with the 5 band eq, Xover control, and Xover slope. I have an issue with the backlighting with this unit aswell. Occasionally the backlight with power off, until i give the unit a nudge and then it goes through the whole startup process again. Obviously there is a bad connection somewhere.

I seemed to be locked out being able to change radio stations. I recently changed my clock and must have messed things up. My remote will not change channels anymore. Can anyone help please? Thanks.

@dougd1015 There is a small reset button located on the face of the unit which you can hold in with a pin or small hairclip, in order to reestablish default settings.

My buddy just picked up one of these, and so far I like it. Actually, it was the 693 version, but its close enough. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is missing the animations that the 792 has, but the fact you can change all the colors almost makes up for it.
