I never knew what that " Trilling" was called before, in Irish Gaelic a Negro is called " Fear Gorm" literally " (a) Blue Man, possibly because in gaelic Fear Dubh literally a Black Man can mean an Evil Man or Devil ?? The Berbers of north Africa Known by other tribes as the Blue People ! Sing very similarly to us Paddies and also play a single sided drum similar to an irish Bodhran....I wonder ???

Frank Harte called his singing "hard singing." It was not a mellow croon, but the sound had a punch to it. I think his accent is from Dublin. In big cities, they usually have harder, more nasal voices. But I like his singing. He also adds in the typical Irish melismatic trills.

I wonder what is the origin of this? I know they use melismata so much in Islamic singing and in African-American singing.
