State Senator Michael Baumgartner (R-Spokane) helped break ground this week on the new Washington State University-Spokane Riverpoint Biomedical and Health Sciences facility. When complete the school is expected to produce 120 medical graduates each year and have a regional economic impact of $2 billion.
Baumgartner's US Senate campaign released a video of his speech at the groundbreaking on Youtube in which he congratulated the bi-partisan effort in securing funding for the school and warned against the legislature continuing to cut funding for higher education.
"The opening of this new medical school stands for what's right in government, in our community, in our private sector and in spending money wisely, this is truly an exceptional project. It's Republicans and Democrats working together for a project of value," said Baumgartner.
