This was a great acceptance speech from a woman of class, Ms. McDaniel had class. I'm white, and I hope people clapped for her because of her character as a human being and for her amazing talent, NOT because she was a black. There will never be peace until we stop measuring by race and color. The Irish were just as prosecuted. You don't hear us bitching about it on a minute-by-minute routine.

The perfect balance between elegance and emotion... Someday she will be considered a hero with the likes of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, trust me.

Clark Gable himself suggested Ms. McDaniel for the role..they were friends...and truth be told, she, Clark and Vivien made that movie...seriously. Those are the three you think of when you think of gwtw. Unfortunately she (Ms. Mcdaiel) was not invited to the premiere in atl, 12/15/39/my b-day, 38 yrs. old...BUT some old (I will keep my mouth mum) confederate soldiers from the civil war were there...no comment on that one. Anyhoo, r.i.p. Ms. Mcdaniel, I am sure she was heavencheering when

She reached the announcer about 6 seconds after her name was called, if she was sitting in the back it must have been a very small hall. The woman who announced her name does actually shake her hand and the man touches her left arm, from his angle he couldnt shake her hand. And look at Sidney Poitier just a few years later, he was kissed on the cheek by the white woman who presented him with his oscar. Times have changed, but for that era the film industry was relatively tolerant.
