Kiki has learned many complex and difficult tricks. I decided in teaching her a real simple and fun trick, The Through The Hoop Trick. It's a fairly simple trick that Kiki understands almost immediately within a couple of minutes. Kiki really enjoys performing this simple trick.

  • wats the treat u feed her???

  • It's millets!

  • Hi, do you start training Kiki since young? Is 5 weeks too young to train?

  • I started training when she's around 4 months old. Although there's no age limit on when to train, even an adult parrot can be trained with proper techniques and positive reinforcement. But if you mentioned that your lovie is still ard the age of 5weeks, that's probably too young. A lovebird that is 5 weeks is certainly still unweaned and relying on handfeeding formula. I will recommend any training to commence after the bird is weaned!

  • So do you take kiki out of her cage to train her then put her back in her cage and then keep repeating that for a while till shes trained so well that she does not need a cage?

Or do you still put her in cage?

And did you like have two lovebirds in a cage then take one out and train it then swap?

Because i have two peach face parrots/lovebirds in one cage and i just want to know if i could train them both at once or will i have to get rid of one?

  • Kiki has her designated time for training and a designated out of cage time for her to roam around and play. Usually she stays in her cage during the morning where everyone is out wrking and no one at home.

Well for me I only have one lovebird and that's Kiki. Mine other angel is a Senegal Parrot, basically they are 2 different species that can nv b housed in the same cage.

  • Thanks default761. Well i don't train Kiki in a cage and Kiki has her own cage. Kermit, my Senegal Parrot is housed in another cage. Trick training is usually conducted in one of the room where is quiet and they concentrate during the training. Training is usually conducted in a one-to-one basis.

  • kiki is so smart.........just a little question did you train him with just him in the cage or were there more than 1 bird in the cage when you trained him?

  • I think so too. Haha.

  • "...Kiki really enjoys performing this simple trick..."

I think so, may be he knows it's an easy task and then he can get the snack easily too. haha.
