Announcer: Dr. Randy Fagin has the technology to spot a single prostate cancer cell, and now he's assessing your risk.

Dr. Fagin: Men with a family history are at a six-fold higher risk of getting disease.

Dr. Kristi Funk: One of the great things about being a Dr. in real life? Access to the latest technology. One of our life changers is using state of the art tools to spot and possibly stop the most common cancer in men, before it even starts.

Prostate cancer- The silent disease with no symptoms. But now this Extra life changer is saving mens lives with groundbreaking technology.

Dr. Fagin: I'm Dr. Randy Fagin, and I'm a urologic robotic surgeon.

Dr. Funk: Dr Fagin has performed over 1500 prostate surgeries using the DaVinci robot, and now he's the first int he world to use this tiny new probe called the Optiscan.

Dr. Fagin: It gives us the amazing ability to see not just tissues, but the cells that make up those tissues, and possibly to see cancer cells, to perform more accurate cancer operations, down to the cell.

Dr. Funk: Now Dr. Fagin's on call for you.

Jay: My grandfather had prostate cancer. What are my chances of getting it?

Dr. Fagin: Men with a family history are at a six-fold higher risk of getting the disease. If your grandfather has prostate cancer and you're a female, interestingly enough, your children will have a higher risk of developing prostate cancer.

Gavin: Doesn't it just effect older men?

Dr. Fagin: This is a disease that effects every man, at just about every age. Screening is critically important. You have to catch this disease early if you're going to cure it.

Lisa: Does my husband's diet increase his chance of getting it?

Dr. Fagin: It's not just what you eat, but how you cook it. When you cook food on a grill, it releases a chemical called PAHs, which are actually directly associated with cancers. Interestingly enough though, if you marinate the meat, it breaks down the meat in a much healthier way, and when you go and grill it? Not so unhealthy anymore.

Dr. Funk: And online now-

Jason: How often should I be screened?

Dr. Funk: Log onto ExtraTV.com to find out.
