This is a song by short lived project called XYZ that consisted of guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist Chris Squire and drummer Alan White from Led Zeppelin and Yes. There has been only one official release of their material, the song Run With The Fox. It was released in 1991 in the Yes box set, Yesyears. This song is one of the three demo songs the band ever recorded. It was recorded in 1981. The demo is believed to be stolen from Page's home.

This song is called Can You See or it is also sometimes called And (Do) You Believe It. The song was also recorded by Yes in Magnification (2001) renamed as "Can You Imagine". It remains fairly similar to the original version. However there is no guitar solo and the band is accompanied by an orchestra. Chris Squire does vocals also on the Yes version.

See Wikipedia for more information about the band. Check out my profile to hear the two other songs ever recorded by XYZ on their rare demo!

  • This material appeared many years later on a Yes album, but I can't quite place it.

  • @tonusaitis Read the description.

  • I heard there were more than three demos. There's a bootleg called Cinema 90XYZ that has many tracks of XYZ material.

  • Actually I've seen the track list and it doesn't have anymore XYZ material than these three. The rest is 90125 material.

  • yeahh i agree, but i think page was a little to hard rock blues guitarist for the melody chaser squire, probably another thing that didnt work beetween them is that squire is too much of a bass showman: he tends to counterplay complex rhytms that counters the guitar riffs, something page wasn't used too, too much of classical and jazz influence of squire's playing for the bluesier hard rocking jimmy page

  • Yeah man I downloaded the whole jam session of this (included Mind Drive/Can You Imagine/Telephone Secrets) and I loved all of it -- I don't even think Plant should have joined, Squire/White/Page was an awesome combination of talented musicians!

  • sounds like a mixture of pink floyd, led zeppelin, and cream..

  • @favorsham: Early in his career White was also a keyboardist and played piano in the Yes version, so it might be him.

  • thanks for the post what a jemmm

  • XYZ sounds cool! Jimmy Page's solo is vintage rock magic!

  • @Yestrooper1 he didn't like the music enough to sing on it.

  • @tonusaitis Yup, right you are, it's on that most recent but already old symphonic album with no rick but an orchestra. It's Steve, Jon, Chris, Alan and Orch. It's called "MAGNIFCATION". A beautiful album actually, really.

  • 2:50 Hello, Mr. Page. :P

  • music 'll be release on yes' s album called magnification under hte name of :"can you imagine ?"

  • Pretty lackluster - if not downright boring. IMO Squire's songwriting ability always has been uneven. Good stuff side by side with stuff that literally stinks. Plant is sorely missed here.

  • @tonusaitis Can You Imagine,off Magnification.
