I think the reason they thought that the mushrooms gave them the power to have psychic powers is because of the overwhelming feeling that the user gets that he or she is connected to everything. I think he was more interested in the visuals that the light was giving him rather than focusing on psychic abilities. Back then America didn't understand the mind expanding properties of this mushroom.

"Pure Mesculine is supposed to be the Father Of All Hallucinagenic toxins" No actually DMT is.

This should be a required school movie.

Like, "The most dangerous drug ever"

Except this would be the opposite.

Actually psilocybin mushrooms are virtually non-toxic: "The toxicity of psilocybin is low; in rats, the oral [lethal dose is] approximately one and a half times that of caffeine... The lethal dose from psilocybin toxicity [in humans] is unknown at recreational or medicinal levels, and has never been documented... Nearly 1.7 kilograms of dried mushrooms, or 17 kilograms of fresh mushrooms, would be required for a 60 kg person to reach the [lethal dose] of rats."
