I think you're right when you say that I have inadequate understanding of the rules of freestryle wrestling. However, I have quite a comprehensive understanding of the laws of tedium. I was probably guilty of trying to apply those laws to an activity in which they for some reason don't apply. The clue was all those rows and rows of empty seats and I simply missed it.

@Czerniakowska I think you are unaware of the rules in Freestyle Wrestling. After a takedown the wrestler that scored the takedown has to turn the opponent for back points. if the ref feels the wrestler can not turn for points then both wrestlers go back to the neutral position. When you have two highly skilled wrestlers you are not going to see any high scores. If you want "Ground Wrestling" watch Folkstyle Wrestling.

A clip which just about sums up all that has gone wrong with this sport in recent years. Mostly, it's just stand-up pushing and shoving. The moment there's any propect of some decent ground wrestling, the referee stands them up and back we go to the pushing and shoving.
