The folks that actually are members of TSKSR are very careful about what footage is made public of the art. Only top ranked people ever perform in public. The public reputation of the school is important to them. Impersonating (poorly) their kata and putting it on youtube, labelled as TSKSR is quite rude.

@Finny1996 The problem is resources. When we film the kata, even a not-so-good one, we control the content.

Right now the original Otake sensei videos have been taken of their youtube accounts and so are missing in our wiki. So the constant searching for viable sources is the reason for self filming this.

Mind you, ours is a grassroots wiki with no funds and ads.

I agree with ninjalla completely, this is as close to TSKSR as a stick to a sword. You're not even holding your bokkens right-no teno uchi whatsoever- making any attempts to train with a sword to come in vain. Your cuts are done by brute force, rather than technique and you completely ruined the true applications in itsutsu no tachi. I'm sorry to say that even a beginner could see how wrong and misinterpreted this is. If you truly want to practice TSKSR seek out a teacher and start from scratch.

@ninjalla You cannot possibly know that "TSKSR works" as you have no idea of what is TSKSR. What you are showing here is so far removed from Shinto Ryu as to negate any idea you have of the system. You are missing section, doing things that directly contradict the system, I would say that not only does your teacher not have Menkyo in the Ryu, they have no experience in it. Omote no Tachi, and Itsutsu no Tachi are one of the first things you learn, and this is completely wrong.

@dgmgl I honor your opinion and fully understand it. However, we will probably keep on doing randori and we will keep on enriching our knowledge with every source that is good enough including European sword fighting, TSKSR and all the things that contribute to our perspective.

Please understand, it is not done in spite, but in complete respect and honesty. My instructor does not have a Menkyo Kaiden in TSKSR nor does he states that he has one. We just know, from experience, that TSKSR works.

@ninjalla To be completely honest, my advise is to not continue with your interpretation of Shinto Ryu. All you are doing is disrespecting the art itself and falsely representing it. If your focus is on randori, that is completely against the teachings of the Ryu itself. I would recommend stopping any teaching of it as well as removing videos such as this one. Stop "working on these kata", as that is not what you are doing. Just stick with your Kukishin Ryu Kenpo, that is more than enough.
