Hilary Hahn - Sibelius Violin Concerto (part 2)

This is the second part of the 1st movement of Sibelius's Violin Concerto. I was lucky enough to catch this on a foreign channel several years ago.

Awesome! She does give all you need to know about violin technique. And yet, there is something about her playing that makes me feel nothing besides that. And no, her playing is not cold. It's really weird, I don't know how to explain it. She is absolutly amazing, and the musical side is really there.. And I keep thinking of that, amazed every time I listen to her; while listening to another musician you forget that the technique exists because something in their playing takes you beyond it..

Throw away your violin methods. Ditch your teacher (well maybe not). Don't bother with convoluted explanations and over blown master classes. Just watch Hilary Hahn, her bowing, her fingering, her incredible economy of movement and her rock solid technique, exquisite sound and tasteful approach....and perfect intonation. She gives you all you need to know about how to play the violin.
