Breaking the News: Tom Scott and Matt Gray bonehead the budget

The biggest project we've ever tried: on Budget Day 2009, Tom and Matt headed down to London. With a camera crew in tow and a command centre in York telling us where the cameras were, we tried to get in the background of as many live broadcasts as possible, boneheading our way through London landmarks and news channels. Tom had an Oyster card; Matt had a Ford Fiesta. Only one could emerge victorious.

Absolutely excellent! I disagree with b3ta (for once), as this video is the perfect length. Really, brilliant work.

Fingers crossed you guys end up working in telly one day, as you've made 12 minutes of watchable video for the same budget it would take the BBC to produce about 10 seconds of metaphorical badgercock.

I can't disagree more with B3ta and others saying this should be shorter. It only works so well because of the massive Top Gear style build-up and into. Maybe you could shave a minute or two off if you were ruthless with the editing but there's nothing in there that breaks the pace enough to warrant doing it needlessly. If it was cut down to just "Hi, we're Tom and Matt, we're going to try and get on the news" and then a 60 second montage of the news footage it wouldn't be nearly as good.
