MaximsNewsNetwork: 03 December 2009 - UNIDO: Vienna - The impact of the economic crisis on the Least Developed Countries' (LDCs) productive capacities and trade prospects will be the focus of a UNIDO Ministerial-level Conference that opens today in Vienna.

Ministerial level delegates from the 49 Least Developed Countries (LDCs) gathered in Vienna for a two day meeting, to discuss the best ways out of the financial crises that are hurting the LDCs the most.

Organized by UNIDO, the participants from Asia, Africa and Latin America will discuss the various steps the industrialized world can take to help them out of the crises.

UNIDO Director General Kandeh Yumkella promised the participants that UNIDO will work relentlessly to help them achieve their aims.

Other keynote speakers, including the Minister of Commerce from Cambodia and the chair of the G77 and China (from Argentina), stressed the importance of diversity in the economies of developing countries, and the need to get away from the reliance on commodities.
