Thailand cracks down on religious schools - 27 Jan 08

The head of Thailand's People Power Party, Samak Sundaravej, is expected to be named as the country's new new prime minister on Monday.

One of his biggest challenges will be bringing violence in the Muslim majority south under control.

The long-running insurgency deteriorated during the term of former Prime minister Thaksin Shinawat.

Now religious schools are being accused of involvement.

I'd also like to point out that the only countries in SE Asia where minorities aren't ill-treated are Indonesia and Malaysia, which happen to be predominantly Muslim.

Do I need to remind you that the politics of your own country have slaughtered Buddhists and Muslims in the MILLIONS these last decades, and created some of the most terrible refugee crisis of history? All over Viet Nam, Laos, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, yet you expect people to blame all this on your governments not on yourself and your people, so please do the same when it comes to other groups.

Cambodia: Muslims have been victim of genocide. 90% of the countries mosques razed in 2 years.

Laos: Christians hide in the jungle because they are chased by the army.

Myanmar: The government has massacred 800.000 people from minorities (Muslims, Christians, and tribes)

Sri Lanka: Civil war between Buddhists and Hindus

Thailand: several massacres of Muslims, thousands of arbitrary arrests, perpetual discimination.

The problem are the governments, not the people, and its the same for every group

Paul, sorry but you are an idiot. Individuals of most cultures are always kind, loving, accepting and tolerant, go visit a Muslim country and you'll see how people are friendly and hospitable. But that's individuals, not governments are countries as a whole. If Buddhist people are tolerant, Buddhist states are among the worst in when it comes to minority rights, it's not just Thailand.

Ideally, all Muslims should be shipped to another planet and let them kill themselves (like Sunni an Shia Muslims).
