Chris Lundy describes a pit performed on Triple Peak in Lake Creek. The pit was done on a westerly, 28 degree slope at around 6700 feet near the normal uptrack route. The snowpack in this spot was shallow and semi-supportable on skis. An Extended Column Test failed all the way across the block on the 6th tap, failing on very weak faceted snow about 16 inches deep. This pit makes it easy to understand the recent avalanche cycle that occurred at low to mid elevations in the South and Central Valley. A recent avalanche was observed across Lake Creek in Taylor Canyon that ran sometime on Friday.
