The Bells
Esquisses Opus 63 (Sketches)
Charles Valentin Alkan

This lovely little piece paints a picture of night in19th century rural France,
where the town bells rang daily.

  • It's great how clear is Alkan in depicting the bells playing, and in so few bars!! Genius.

  • Beethoven "kissed" Liszt's forehead and condemned him to make so powerful music that people could love, hate and act on the feelings it could create. I am starting to think Beethoven "kissed" the wrong boy...

  • I only wish it would never end...
