Eh, it's kinda cool... but don't know if the idea would sell.

If you go to the middle you get sucked back in time
-
someone gave you money to build that ?

fake

although the theory is a good concept, the physical application is impossible. the wave pool cannot be completely self sufficient; energy must be put into the system in order to continue. It is stated in the second law of thermodynamics, the law of entropy, that for every energy transformation, some energy is lost to an unusable form (i.e. heat). Pick up a physics textbook once in a while.

@Iamthewalrus3200 The endless refers to the ride ( as you can keep going in circles ). It is evident that all energy lost to turbulens ( heat ) needs to be reinserted. In practice this results in an energy consumption of 1/3 of what is theoretically needed for a specific wave heigth and period for a barrelling wave. For less agressive waves the energy consumption rapidly decreases.

once you try to scale this up won't the change in surface tension have a major impact on the resulting wave?
ruebs 3 months ago
@ruebs as every molecuul of water (except the centre) oscilates with the same period, the resulting wave will behave the same as it's natural brother over a simular reef. The period is relative to the pools diametre, a 60 metre pool will have 8 second waves.

Endles wave = Unlimited power = impossible

@AvolovaMovies It took only 1.2 kW to produce this endless wave. (30cm@3.6s). The best feature of this setup is that it recycles the energy of the foamball and that almost every molecuul of water in the pool moves with the same period, thus reducing friction.
