Apple calls it the best mobile game device. Can it handle constant gaming?

This 2nd generation iPod touch (it's NOT called iTouch) lasted 4 hours 4 minutes with minimum brightness, no sound, and wifi on (with push and 15 minute fetch). This time-lapse shows a minute of gameplay every second.

Check out my editorial about these results here: http://www.everythingicafe.com/articles/2009/1/1/the-funnest-ipod-ever...when...

Wi-Fi on (router is upstairs and across the hall). Push is ON and Fetch is every 15 minutes. Two non-push email accounts are configured to provide the Fetcher something to munch on.
No sound.
Minimum brightness.

Featured games in order of appearance, all downloaded from the iPhone App Store:

Real Soccer 09
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Fastlane Street Racing
Antimatter
Snail Mail
Hero of Sparta
Tap Defense (goes by quick...i pretty much just go here to check that the network access is actually working)
Super Monkey Ball
Moto Chaser
Cro-Mag Rally
Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3d
Asphalt 4
Hero of Sparta - It died right as soon as I was about to beat that chapter :(

This is the last of the individual setting tests. In the next video, I turn EVERYTHING on and see how fast it dies.

Feel free to comment or message me ideas for apps you'd like me to show off in more videos.

  • hey i just got my ipod touch 2g about a week ago

i thought the battery would last pretty long but it just lasts about 2 hours

and all i do is use msn..

how can i make the battery last longer

  • Set your brightness level to the lowest level you can stand, and try it with auto-brightness off (this feature tends to increase the brightness more than it tends to decrease it)

Turn Location services and Bluetooth off if either of them are on. Location services is not very useful for the iPod touch, since it relies on the wifi access point being entered into a database for locating wifi access points. Bluetooth is also not very useful unless you have friends with iPod touch to play games with

  • Cool video:) But the main reason why I watch it is the music, lol :)

  • Yeah, you can find some pretty good music in the video editing section. I love it.

  • That was VERY boring and a waste of time!
