NECROS.
Ohio thrash-punksters the Necros debuted in the early '80s with a nine-track EP, released through two preeminent indie labels, Dischord and Touch & Go. Signed to Touch & Go two years later, the group's first album, Conquest for Death, proved to be their last for quite a while. Except for a 1986 split 7" with White Flag, the Necros didn't return until 1987, when Tangled Up debuted a vastly different lineup (including future Big Chief vocalist Barry Henssler) and a sound not quite as brutal as before.

Saw Necros at Phantasy in Cleveland about this time, total misbilled show, they played after California Speedbag. I got punched in the head in the pit. Theatre had Hells Angels security, biggest MF'rs you ever saw, with blackjacks and bats - Guys were climbing up to dive in to pit, and the HA giants were tossing them end over end like a rag doll in to the seats-Necros thrashed hard, all uptempo, I recall they had lots of hair and ink- Miss those fun days, don't miss moshing or the hangovers - CW
