Movie: Labyrinth
Song: If I Apologised
Artist: Iain Ballamy
Character(s) Focus: Sarah/Jareth
Situation: Sarah is reflecting on her journy through the labyrinth, wishing she could make him understand.

Notes: If you listen near the end I actually do have them talking, but I couldn't figure out how to get the music to be quieter.

Lyrics:

If I apologised
it wouldn't make it all unhappen
wouldn't make the darkness go away
If I apologised
it wouldn't mean I was forgiven
wouldn't mean you wanted me to stay

But
it's a dream
when you seem
to be walking into the sun
we're on first
unrehearsed
and we still don't know what we've done
so we don't say anything.

If I apologised
I don't suppose you'd even notice
even though I'd whisper it inside
If I apologised
we could be the perfect couple
Well we could, but only in my mind

but
if you ask
for the mask
then we're stumbling on through the dark
But we wait
it's too late
And we only had to be asked
so we don't say anything.

It couldn't hurt to try it
It couldn't hurt too much to try
It's there beyond the quiet
it couldn't hurt too much to fly...

  • truly amazing combination... in my faves

  • Thanks a ton. I look at it now and think I could do better, but I'm glad other people like it.

  • this music vid is better than the entire Labyrinth Movie.

^-^ i just did a paper comparing Labyrinth and Pan's Labyrinth. i wish i had watched Labyrinth first before writing the paper.

  • I don't know about better then the entire movie, but thank you.

I hope with that paper you said anything starring David Bowie beats the blood and gore any day. (Sorry, I didn't like that movie so much. But intresting project. Would you mind pming it to me so I can read it?)

  • ^-^ i'd be honored if you did! U^ ^ but i'm afraid i forgot how much i liked Labyrinth in the wake of seeing Pan's Labyrinth for the first time. i basically said Labyrinth was crap, but i tried to sound professional. but, i'll send it to you! all 4 pages?

  • Totally. Or if it won't let you pm that much, then I think my e-mail address should be on my page somewhere. If not it's "first Rainbow Rose (at) hotmail. com" (no spaces)

  • Haha I watched Mirrormask for the first time last night, and fell in love with this song and the movie, so when I saw it combined with the Labyrinth (one of my all time faves ) I had to fav it straight away!

  • Wow, Mirrormask+Labyrinth. Awesome combo. This song really does suit them, Jareth and Sarah. Kinda funny how that works out, huh?

  • The soundtrack comes from one of my fav films and this is my other favourite film! Epic taste!!

  • @akeeda it is definately one of the most underrated songs I can think of as is the film! Just makes you drift away into some labyrinth in one's mind!

  • I wonder how long Bowie had to practice to do that with the glass spheres.

  • @Scissorf4ce Sure there's better things to do then bid on a movie like THe Labyrinth sequel happening. But the manga has nothing to do with the movie really. Not written by the same people lsat I heard. Not even what it pretends to be from the cover. DIfferent artists entirely. THe pro did the cover the amateur did the innards. Not an exception to "don't judge a book". It's harder to get into than the fan fiction.

  • Love it

  • My favourite movie is The Labyrinth.

    My closerunning-second favourite is MirrorMask.

Put them together and you just have this awesomeness, right here.

  • this song is from Mirrormask not Labyrinth. It is an amazing song though <3

  • Actually this song is from the movie'' Mirrormask''

  • David Bowie....<3

  • God, Bowie was breath taking in this movie.
