If you listen carefully, often deadmau5 has all of the different parts of songs separated out onto his computer. He then runs compresses them all through Live, and plays his tracks like that. To prove it, in Hi Friend he puts effects on the vocals, but not on the drums or synths. deadmau5 isn't really a dj in the classical sense of the word, he's pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Look at his studio interviews on youtube and you'll know what I mean.
