The CIOR has begun its modernization of its signal system. This project should be completed over the course of 2 years, depending on outside factors. Set back and watch as the dispatcher in Indianapolis lines up traffic at CP-Riley (east of Greenfield Indiana)

  • is there a switch or something that controls the signals?

  • No, the CMRI system controls the signals. It receives feedback from the blocks, and switch positions. Its operated via a computer program.

  • i have a question is this signal appropriate to use at a double track section feeding into a single track? i havent built the second peice of the layout yet and i wanted to know if this would be the right kind?

  • Yes, you can use this on double to single track interlockings. You just might not use all the signal indications available on the signal itself. You will have to check with your railroad you model.

  • I noticed your Train was given a high green when it went across the crossover. Ihe indication should have been on the lower signal head stating that it was going to proceed through the turnout of the switch.

I don't mean to pick cause it looks like a great layout but the indication was wrong and I thought you may like to know this info.

    Excellent video.

  • Your application is 100% correct from the signals to the verbal permission from the dispatcher to backup on your train. We have an interlocking just like this at N. Selma in North Carolina on CSX.

    Great job.

  • Very awesome signal! Just as a note, a red over yellow signal is Restricting, not a "Medium Approach." A Medium Approach would be a red over yellow over red. I know that signal can't possibly display that, but for a more prototypical signal indication, you could change that signal to "slow approach." Which is a red over flashing yellow. Hope this helps out! Again, nice signal and great layout!

  • @wamaweur At interlockings where diverting moves from one track to another can be made, signals will have more than one head above each track to display more complex aspects. This information gives the train crews more information on speed and alignment.

  • @wamaweur

well both lights dont have to be clear to proceed all that needs to be clear is just the 1 lights

The inside lights are for track 1

The outside lights are for track 2

like i said before they dont have to be clear all you need is 1 light to go but if a train is track 1 and tere is a highballer signal on track 2 then the train cannot go

  • @wamaweur

well the bottom 2 lights are for the dirving signals this is a crossover and withb alkl cross-overs you need to have a top signal for the main line and a bottom signal for the dirving route

  • Nice Signals! I am currently working on a system myself which will employ NORAC rules since I find these the basic rules and easy to build logic for. I have three interlockings on my layout, one being a double crossover, I want to employ some triangular lights as well as these hooded style. The last interlocking would have searchlights. I plan to design the whole system myself with data wires between interlockings for advance indications. I will post a video when it is complete. 5*

  • This in on my personal layout. This is 100% prototypical. The top head per each main gives straight track indication, then the bottom head per each track gives the diverging route indication.
