a beat to chill to. crank the volume and the bass up!

This was supposed to be my first original song, but I ended up stealing the baseline from a jack johnson song. I just added the melody and the beat. It's my dream to compose my own music, but its just so frickn' hard. Sigh, maybe someday.

  • You should get Yael Naim to write some lyrics for this and record it. Could be a new hit for the next Apple product. :-)

  • haha i like that song also, i think its called "new soul"

  • Nicely done, but where is the 'real' piano?

  • its at home, this is my dorm room in college

  • Agree with carolchill. Great start!

All great composers started somewhere, and all have/had what you obviously have. The music is in the soul, looking for a way out.

All you need to do is give it a way to come to the surface, then refine it. You can do it!

  • Wow! Thats so cool, and catchy ;)

  • If you keep working, you'll be able to write music. You can start with this piece. It's obviously not finished. It's repetitive enough to just be used in advertising. But at the point when you bring the melody back in (1:05), I was really expecting it to be something more serious and lyrical, like a real song would be. Don't leave this song as is, develop it. It would be good practice. You have all the talent you need. Now it's about putting in the work.

  • nice, funky!

  • very nice!
