  • Axbent, thanks for the comments. Traditionally planes were said to have corrugated soles so they would have less friction in use. I've read that they were also designed specifically for soft woods with lots of pitch and would again help with friction. Makes sense I suppose. I don't find a difference either way personally. cheers!

  • thanks, the cabinet is made up entirely of offcuts believe it or not. the main body is birch ply with walnut edging and a mix of hardwoods inside. the drawer fronts are mahogany and the main inside is cherry. thanks for the comments.
