besides that, i believe the typical young student is bored and not challenged enough in DIFFERENT ways. thinking in the abstract like this is a break from the norm they're used to. they don't have to sit and listen to a teacher talk, or read from a book, or answer questions about those readings. now, if you were to tell the kids to analyze descartes or something, i'd have to agree with you! heh. but i think it should be taken for what it is: mental stimulation..thinking outside the box.
i disagree. these kids don't look stressed at all. to me, kids face stress in the form of homework, tests, & studying.
childhood is about happiness. thinking critically/thinking in depth about things doesn't take away from that happiness.
life can be equated to the structure of a building. childhood=foundation. a strong foundation can be achieved through mental stimulation & social interaction, which is what these kids are doing. "typical" childhood influences (mainly TV) don't provide the same.
na dude make em think outside the box and they seem like sensitized humans, instead of the old run of the mil " chocolate, candy, barney, mine!,mine!" bullshit, cause even as they do it, they know eventually there gonna get to a point where they fuckin stop, so why not stop now?

I'm for teaching kids philosophy, but I suspect a different approach would be needed with average kids. Are these all the children of college Professors?!
I've seen more intelligent conversation here than I would from listening to most adults.

Outstanding video! Art is always a fun topic for discussion.
@parispeter2: The same approach works with quite a wide range of children, even those with behavioral problems.
