Its just for supplies, however on the last shuttle flight they're leaving it up there for storage.

Sorry for asking, but why was that "extra" room first installed and then removed? Are not the station suppose to get bigger?

Nice animation. But as far as I know the shuttle program is going to be cancelled in the next years and normal rockets will replace it again, right. Anyways, I hope that there will be an international moon base in the future. I would be really interested of doing research in low gravity environment in my future.
