he needs a cage as wide as his wing span. I tend to go larger. He also needs some wood toys to chew on. Or puzzle bird toys you can buy at pet stores. They can get depressed and kill themselves. He seems to be a sweetie.

Dexta's a cutie :) My family's 2 blue fronts loved taking showers, or misted with a water bottle. Not sure how old they were, but one had to be 30+. Wow Dexta's cage is antique but I wonder if you changed it on him after all this time,if he'd be weirded out. FYI Prevue stopped making that model after complaints about the gradual reduction in bar spacing at the top. (Wings, legs getting tangled in) I worked in a bird store when I was 19-20. That was in the 90s. Anyway thanks for sharing yr bird!

@mimi2957 That depends on what kind of amazone it is. A bleufront can live to 100 years but a Yellow shouldered is very old by 45 years of age.

Cool Parrots can out live people. Do you take your bird in the shower. They love the warm mist not direct spay. In the rain forest they get wet. The feathers seem a little tattatered. Also round cages suck, a big squre one is better. At night a cover is nice for them,

Parrots are wonderful companions. I should know, as I have 3 living with me and occasionally 6. He looks like a Blue front amazon and can you maybe getv him a larger cage and more safe parrot toys...please. He is a sweetie and I know you are proud that he is your parrot companion! I have a YNA companion, a Grey and a female Ekkie. Parrots are special!

He gets quite attached to his cage! but the door to the cage is always open, and he walks around alot and even around the room when he's adventurous! I inherited him from my Grandfather.
