Yes, domestic abuse happens everywhere, but when it's actually LEGAL and women can't seek help anywhere, I think it goes a little deeper than "it's just a different culture". I have seen many videos about Islam but I have also talked to Muslims, I worked 3 years for an arab muslim who was married here and I also have muslim friends, even if they are not as traditional as in Middle East.
Here is another video on this subject from the user discussislam that I saw some months ago and after seeing it again now, I realised it (unintentionally) inspired me a lot : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVxtfS...

Ancient Arab culture was barbaric your people were burying female children alive on a regular basis. Prophet Muhammad pbuh was sent to Arabia not because you were great people but because you were the worst of people and you needed a Prophet (this is the same reason so many Prophets came to the Jews.) Islam improved the status of women in Arabia greatly it gave them property rights and inheritance rights something that did not even exist in European culture at that time.
Haa, you didn't get it at all!!! 4:34 was quoted with the meanings 'to strike' to illustrate the point that these are the common meanings taken when translating the verse! which is wrong in this case. the other thing; In the verse the word' Nissaa = woman' is used not the word Zojja = wife. Please read the verse in Arabic, and then ponder. Making judgment without understanding is not fair. I have been there were you are now!
i think that the meaning of"good muslims treat their wife good" is meant to strengthen the first quote that he must not hit their wife unprovoked and have limits in their violence rather than contradicting the first quote, the message is sti;; wrong but i think you misunderstood the real meaning
Awesome girl! I'm an ex-Muslim atheist girl and it's the best decision I've ever made in my life, I feel so peaceful and tolerant and humble after I've been enlightened about the true meaning of life, and how it all really happened. Islam is a parasitic oppressive ideology that needs to be blasted off this planet!
LOL wow you just contradicted both of your posts...first of all, how do you separate your wife? It does NOT say that or to separate from her, nowhere does it say such a thing like that in ANY of the world English translations
Second, you used Dharb as "to strike" in verse 4:34...Nice one, made yourself look like a lying fool trying to cover up such an atrocious verse.
