  • For the most part it seemed to me that once Irene cleared New York that much of the media acted as though it was over. It was really hard to to know what was going on here in Vermont and not see any significant coverage. This is most likely the most devastating disaster to hit the Green Mountains since 1927.

  • Send that rain to texas. We would accept it with love

  • Take a pill nut job...!!!

  • You're the best, Jim! VT loves you, too!

  • @shullln A Cat 1 storm in Fla may be "nothing" but when it hits a state like NH, VT, NY, where there are mountains and all water flow is quickly diverted into narrow valleys, tributaries and rivers, it doesn't take anywhere near as much to totally destroy life as we know it up here. This was NOT over hyped. Only those who don't live here and seeing it for themselves are saying so. Even many up here who minimized the threat are now realizing how "dead" wrong they were. Think before you speak.

  • He says it all with perfect eloquence. This summer was my first time to visit Vermont and I was only just in Brattleboro last weekend. White River Junction the weekend before that. To see these places so battered just breaks my heart. I hope the rest of the nation is as galvanized to help as they were after Katrina. Vermont may not be as internationally famous as New Orleans, but it's a magical place and deserves a lot of support and love.

  • @HeBreaksLate It was only "over-hyped" for those it didn't affect. For those of us whom it DID affect, trust me, it was NOT over-hyped. I bet if your property were lost entirely you wouldn't think so either. Vermont was devastated by this event. Trust me, we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg so far. When the final tally's are all taken into account, I'm nearly positive this event will be found to be even worse than the flood of 1927. I nearly lost everything I owned because of it.

  • My house is an 1898 old schoolhouse in Berlin, 3 miles from Montpelier. I live in CO and rent it. It was just renovated due to winter freezing damage and now it is surrounded by the waters of the Dog River. I went into complete panic after hearing about this on TV. I could not find any information. Now I am viewing the videos and can't stop crying. My prayers go out to Vermont as my heart is still there.

  • My prayers go out to you Jim

  • It was incredible because everyone was acting as though the Hurricane was over. Meanwhile, the road outside my house (rt 4) completely washed away. R7 7 is GONE south of Rutland. The town I work in, Brandon, devastated! All my facebook friends were SCARED. We had to abandon houses and run for cover... and all I saw on the news was "Hurricane is over"..... MAYBE FOR NYC!.... so hard to cope, and even harder when everyone was oblivious to what was going on.

  • Bless your heart Jim I am so sorry for all those in Vermont and all the other states that was hit by Irene and having flooding and people's homes damaged. All those affected has my prayers.
