the play I think is about symbiosis to some degree; it's also about how misery is a construct of age where time is a repetitive element in which they are all trapped; the post apocalyptic vibe of the setting is a metaphor for how the characters are all experiencing a stalled latter state of existence where they appear to linger in a kind of limbo from which there is no return and beyond which they are reluctant to transgress.
