In 1988 I waited at Stapleton Airport in Denver ,where I live, for about five hours until 7-11 returned home from Italy.I got autographs from andy Hampsten and Ron Kiefel. Both of the guys as well as the entire team were very approachable and personable. That's the beauty of meeting pro cyclists versus almost any other pro sport in the world.I've met Andy Hampsten,Ron Kiefel,Greg Lemond,Jonathan Vaughters,Jeremy Horgan- Kobelski and Heather Irmiger.
This looks like the 2008 Alpine Challenge I rode in near San Diego. I saw him only after the ride when he signed my shirt. I thought he would be a little distant and all business but he was nice and approachable.

Andy looks great at 46! Like he could get on his bike and ride up L'Alpe d'Huez without a problem.
