I think the free music may depreciate the monetary value of music in the short term. However, with artists being forced to compete in the free mixtape/free album game, it increases the quality and quantity of music that must be made. Overall, I think all the free music is terrific for hip hop. No longer can an established artist rest on his laurels, while the young guns are releaseing quality, free material. In the long run, releasing free music pays off i.e. French Montana, Danny Brown
