2009 US Open. Dick Enberg. Disrespectful, rude (xenophobic?) trophy presenter

Dick Enberg, U.S open presenter giving the trophy to the U.S 2009 winner, Juan Martin del Potro, had a rude and disrespectful attitude with the winner. Specially look the video at 00:30 seconds, Del Potro asking to say some words in Spanish, his native language. Enberg doesn't let Del Potro talk (come on, he is the winner!!). Look again at 1:08, with Del Potro almost begin like a little kid to talk. You could tell he was feeling upset with presenter's attitude. Finally the presenter agrees to give the 20 years old winner the mike to just speak for a few seconds in spanish. Dick Denberg should apologize.

watching this, and reading up on this, anyone on here who typed ill will towards Enberg is being a piece of shit. this was CBS and the event sponsors fault, not his. the network has to allot the finish to the sponsors, so even tho Del Potro deserved the time to speak the network wouldn't give it. so in dick enberg's case, don't shoot the messanger!!!

It's very hard to say if there was any personal motive for Dick behaving that way.. if you look at the award ceremony for the 2008 us open final (federer beat murray) it follows the exact same format as this one where the champion gets a few words, followed by the lexus presentation and then the trophy presentation. I think it's not so much as Dick being an asshole as JDP's request being a little out of line given the ceremonial procedure. The US OPEN organizers should get the blame not Dick.

Something that he aimed for his whole life and he will never know if he will ever have the chance to be there again and to not be able to give Juan Martin a minute to speak. Stfu seriously! I been watching Enberg since the sixties,he is one of the most likable and unabrasive sports commentators in history. What the hell are you trying to incite here.Sports coverage is international, he has a time contraint to follow, get a clue.
