Does true healing have anything to do with ''fixing'' a broken ''self''??Jeff Foster talks about the true meaning of the words HEALING and THERAPY and how they relate to nonduality and to the recognition of who we really are. See the companion essay on Jeff's website: http://www.lifewithoutacentre.com/read/essays-transcripts/therapy-without-a-t...

  • On the other hand, I feel concerned that there's another perspective that is important to acknowledge here. That is the perspective in which severe trauma or depression or anxiety is present, and a person must attend to this reality and take care of vital needs. This is absolutely, to paraphrase you, creating a better dream. And, extending the metaphor, when the dream is a nightmare, making it a happier dream is very kind and compassionate and wise.

  • @youbloodybetcha good way to said it as it is - as it happen.

  • isn't even this just another paradox though? what's the difference between believing that we need to be fixed and believing that we need to recognize we don't? either way your fucked

  • realizing that we're never broken and that you are always completely one with the ocean and relaxing into it actually then makes the wave experience more enjoyable even beyond that relief from suffering :)

  • I think there's a misunderstanding of therapy. A good therapist doesn't *fix* you. Hard to describe, really. They simply allow you to be and gently reflect back who you are. Maybe like being at the foot of a beloved Guru - a wholeness is realized without them doing anything specific. They help create a shared space. Sort of like what you do, Jeff.

  • We are broken (we as humanity) because we are always trying to control everything. The only way to "fix" this is to relax, to not be afraid, to realize who we truly are, AND to make all this possible, the key is to not be afraid of death. Therefore we live more fully and free. The freedom of expression. Because at the same time when you think you are "no-thing", you are "every-thing"! Now express this by doing what you like doing and STOP doing what you are forced to do or have been told to do!!

  • The point is in doing what you love doing!

  • namaste dear one <3

  • I am always amazed at how friendly and sweet you serve the most radical and (for the good listener) sometimes really upsetting and discomforting message.

What you are saying here goes far. Beyond therapy as we know it. Beyond depression, psychosis and cancer. Beyond death.

I hear an appeal to acknowledge and consequently surrender to (let's call it today) the Force. To that what I know as my inner being. What you once refered to as "the non-existent core". That what lives me.

  • Thank you Jeff!
