Neil Davis talks about working with the South Vietnamese army. He recalls that they were involved in fighting much more than the American forces, and suffered correspondingly higher casualties.

  • @IvIIBoSSIIvI We were fighting to teach the S Vietnamese Govt not to go Communist & to push the N Vietnamese Communists back. And there could have been a hidden agenda having to do with drugs, because allegedly the bodies of dead US soldiers were being used by the CIA to smuggle drugs into the US.

  • This is when a country talks to the U.S and pact a genocidal war.

  • @IvIIBoSSIIvI that sort of thing happens in all wars. that doesnt make it right but thats one of the tragedies of any war. lbj caved in to pressure from republican big business interests. this was johnsons folly. in hindsight he should have been helping chiang kai shek retake the mainland but there wasnt enough international support for him to do that. we werent suppose to win in the end. the paris peace accord was set up to have the u.s. leave with honor but it was staged like a rout.

  • @Humberto4790 we left because of pressure from public opinion from home. it was all very strange. the chinese communists generals were actually advising the u.s. and restricting them from certain areas as well. the guy on that clip is exxagerating. the so. vietnemese troops didnt do that much. their were rangers who did but they were a small portion of the army. the other elements werent that good. we couldnt touch laos. and thats where all the commie equip and troops were being staged.

  • AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET US FREE

  • i read that u.s. soldiers would rape vietnameese females and murder them this war was incredibley ignorant they just drafted people and gave them a weopon basically WHY WERE WE REALLY FIGHTING?

  • @twinqletwinqle to continue, the stickgrenades were more safe because the string was inside the grenade, a person would unscrew the bottom before using the nade. The idea that all grenades were carried on a vest is bs as well. A vc would more then likely conceal their weapons until attacking. A vc isnt gonna go shoot at americans then walk home with his ak47 and grenades showing. Im discrediting him on his generalizing of the situation

  • @twinqletwinqle lets look at the logic at at 1:57 for a second. Youd place the grenade to the vest by the safty lever. If the pin was pulled no big deal, except the lever would more then likely fall off resulting in the grenade falling to the ground. So the idea the pin was pulled off and the man couldnt get the grenade off his vest isnt logical. The other logical point is the vc and nva used out stick grenades (or what ever they could get their hands out) The stick grenade is a string action.

  • @twinqletwinqle then maybe he shouldnt generalize the whole situation because it was different everywhere. He does seem like he has an agenda to me, but thats me. The idea that human beings made obvious mistakes is believable. The idea they just ignorantly continued and told no one is beyond the pale for me. Its common sense. This video shouldnt be called the truth about nam, but this journalists discovery or opinion. Its proven that we lied about arvn's deaths and commitment. We did most of it.

  • @invanz0 This documentary was made/released in 1981. That's why he says "Americans... blame South Vietnamese army for the loses", so it's past 1975. I find it funny that you would discredit him, when he was there for 11 years on the front line and he witnessed it himself. The guy had no agenda to lie.
